Sadr Threatens Parliament with 'Million-Man March' Unless It Votes on New Cabinet
ERBIL - Iraqi powerful Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, who came back from Iran on Saturday, has threatened the parliament with a 'million-man' march if it doesn't vote on the cabinet of PM-designate Mohammed Allawi this week.

Sadr's warning comes while Allawi has called for a parliamentary session to be held on Monday to vote on his interim cabinet while he has not been able to convince the majority of political parties to support his future "independent" government.

"If the session does not take place this week, or if lawmakers don't [back] a transparent Iraqi cabinet in a vote... then this will require a demonstration of a million people," Sadr wrote on Twitter.

He also said that sit-ins, around the Green Zone where the government's offices and foreign diplomatic buildings are located, will have to be used to exert pressure.
