ERBIL — Director General of al-Rashid TV, Nizar Zanoun, was assassinated in board daylight in Baghdad on Tuesday.

Local sources said armed men on motorcycles shot Zanoun dead in west of Baghdad around 07:00 am (local time) today.

The perpetrators took flight before security forces arrive at the scene.

Police has launched an investigation into the assassination.

Since the eruption of the anti-government protests across Iraq last October, several journalists, media activist and human rights advocates have been assassinated in Baghdad, Basra, and other southern provinces.
