Kurdish-led SDF Thwarts Attack by Turkey-backed Rebels
ERBIL — The Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have defeated an attack by the Islamist rebels supported by Turkey near Gire Sipi (Tel Abyadh) in northern Syria, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Saturday.

“SOHR activists documented the killing of six Turkish-backed fighters in the confrontations. SDF also seized weapons and ammunition,” the report added.

The confrontation took place near the villages of Jalbah and Abdiko, in west of Gire Sipi.

Media outlets linked with the SDF confirmed the report and added that the Turkey-backed rebels had previously shelled Qezel village in the area.

The reports did not indicate possible casualties among SDF or civilians in the region.
