Barzani Receives Russian Diplomatic Delegation
During the meeting, Barzani and Bogdanov shed light on the latest developments in Iraq and the wider region, as well as bilateral ties between Erbil and Moscow.
They spoke of the current situation in Baghdad and other areas in southern Iraq and the ongoing protests which are occurring in pursuit of better services for all of the citizens of Iraq. The current situation, both sides agreed does not benefit anyone and that it should be resolved as soon as possible, according to the readout of the meeting.
President Barzani and Deputy Foreign Minister Bogadov deliberated ways of further bolstering the cultural, political and economic relations between Russia and the Kurdistan Region in the interest of the people of the two sides.
The Kurdish leader also expressed his appreciation to the government and people of Russia for their continuous support to the Kurdistan Region.
Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday received Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Mikhail Bogdanov in Erbil.
The Kurdish Prime Minister and Russian senior diplomat discussed a range of issues, including closer cooperations to further promote security, stability and investment in the region.
Prime Minister Barzani highlighted the Kurdistan Regional Government’s ongoing efforts to facilitate foreign investment and invited Russian investors to capitalize on the region’s growing economy, according to the readout of the meeting.
He also stressed that the stabilization of Iraq and Syria is a precondition to regional economic prosperity, peace and security. Both sides agreed that continued military cooperation is critical to eliminate the growing threat of terrorism.
Bogdanov praised the Kurdistan Region’s efforts to promote stability, and officially invited Prime Minister Barzani to participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will be held between 3rd and 6th June this year.
