US Military Plane Crashes in Afghanistan
ERBIL - A US military plane crashed on Monday in a Taliban-held area of Afghanistan, with the militant group claiming responsibility for it.

Reuters cited a US official who spoke on condition of anonymity as confirming that the plane crashed with several people on board, but rejected Taliban's claim of bringing the aircraft down.

Reports also revealed that a US Bombardier E-11A aircraft was found crashed in Afghanistan on Monday.

"The plane which was on an intelligence mission, was brought down in Sado Khel area of Deh Yak district of Ghazni province,” said Zabihullah Mujahid, a spokesperson for the Taliban in a statement, as quoted by Reuters.

However, he did not explain how the militants targeted the US plane, but claimed that the crew on board included high ranking US officers.

The aircraft was previously reported to have been a passenger plane.
