ERBIL - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani discussed energy relations with US Secretary of Energy Ban Brouillette in a phone call on Friday.

Barzani and Brouillette exchange views on the economic ties between Erbil and Washington, on which, the Kurdish prime minister wrote on Twitter that "we will remain in regular contact as we work together to strengthen economic ties and increase US investment in Kurdistan’s energy sector."

Brouillette's office, meanwhile, said in a statement that the pair held a phone call to convey US’ support for expanding the role of U.S. energy companies in the [Kurdistan Region] IKR.

"The Secretary and Prime Minister agreed to prioritize coordination on actions that boost the region’s EnergySecurity," the press release added.
