IS Attacks Iraqi Militias near Kirkuk, Kills Two
ERBIL — The Islamic State (IS) militants carried out an attack on a checkpoint held by Iraq’s tribal militias near Kirkuk overnight on Wednesday, killing at least two.

The attack targeted the tribal paramilitary fighters, part and parcel of Hashd al-Shaabi, near Awla Mahmoud village on the suburb of Dibis, northwest of Kirkuk province, according to a local source.

Several other militiamen were injured during a fierce fire exchange.

The source pointed out that the IS jihadists managed to escape the scene with no casualties.

Elsewhere near Samarra, Salahaddin province, IS insurgents attacked Shia militias of Hashd al-Shaabi. Unconfirmed reports said there were several militiamen killed and injured while the number is not known.
