ERBIL — Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Monday received a delegation from the Kurdistan National Council of Syria (ENKS) in Erbil to discuss the latest developments in northern Syrian and the wider region.

During the meeting, the Kurdish president urged the Kurdish parties active in Syrian Kurdistan to maintain unity in the face of the current challenges.

He also offered Erbil’s support for any initiative that could bring peace and stability to the people of Syrian Kurdistan.

Barzani and the ENKS delegation also discussed the border areas of Syria which came under attack in October, expressing concern over the extremist rebels’ attempt to change the demography of the Kurdish towns and villages while displacing hundreds of thousands of Kurds from their homes.
