Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani inaugurated the Strategic Balinda–Barzan Water Project on Sunday, describing it as a key milestone in the government's efforts to strengthen water security and expand essential public services across the Kurdistan Region.

The project will provide clean drinking water to approximately 53 villages in the districts of Mergasur, Khalifan, and Aqra, in addition to several surrounding communities.

Addressing attendees at the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Barzani said the project reflects the KRG's commitment to delivering quality services to all parts of the Kurdistan Region without discrimination. He noted that the project was completed entirely by local expertise and forms part of the government's broader strategy to enhance water security, particularly in Erbil Province and other areas facing growing demand.

The Prime Minister also commended local residents for their commitment to protecting forests and wildlife, describing environmental conservation as an important cultural responsibility. He called for continued efforts to preserve natural resources and promote responsible water use.

Turning to federal relations, Barzani described ties between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government as being at a "very good" level. He reaffirmed the KRG's support for Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi and his administration in ensuring the full implementation of the Iraqi Constitution without selective application. He emphasized that the people of the Kurdistan Region should enjoy their constitutional rights on an equal footing with all Iraqi citizens and called for an end to policies that differentiate between the Region and other provinces.

Barzani also reiterated the Kurdistan Region's support for Baghdad's recently launched anti-corruption campaign, saying the KRG remains a committed partner in efforts to combat corruption and strengthen economic, political, and security stability throughout Iraq.

On regional affairs, the Prime Minister stressed that the Kurdistan Region is not a party to the ongoing conflicts in the Middle East and has no intention of becoming involved in them. He condemned the continued attacks and bombardments targeting the Region, describing them as unjustified and calling for an immediate end to such actions, which he said undermine stability and harm all parties.

Addressing domestic political developments, Barzani urged all political forces to prioritize the interests of citizens and the constitutional institutions of the Kurdistan Region over partisan considerations. He called for the reactivation of the Kurdistan Parliament, warning against allowing it to become a tool for political leverage or an obstacle to delivering public services.

Concluding his remarks, the Prime Minister renewed his call for cooperation and partnership among all political stakeholders to strengthen the Region's constitutional institutions. He said the Kurdistan Regional Government has overcome numerous challenges in recent years and will continue responding to future difficulties through reconstruction, strategic infrastructure projects, and initiatives designed to improve the lives of all citizens.
