TRUMP: IRAN DEAL TO BE SIGNED SUNDAY, STRAIT OF HORMUZ TO REOPEN IMMEDIATELY

U.S. President Donald Trump said Saturday that a long-anticipated agreement with Iran is expected to be signed on Sunday, adding that the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz would reopen immediately after the deal takes effect.

Speaking about the ongoing negotiations, Trump expressed confidence that both sides were nearing a breakthrough, describing the agreement as a major step toward restoring stability in the region and easing tensions that have disrupted global energy markets.

"The Strait of Hormuz will reopen straight after the deal is signed," Trump said, signaling what could be a significant de-escalation in the conflict that has gripped the Middle East in recent months.

Notably, Trump suggested the agreement would not require Iran to surrender its stockpile of enriched uranium, indicating a more flexible approach than some previous U.S. demands.

The optimistic tone from Washington was echoed in Tehran. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said an agreement "has never been closer," reinforcing expectations that negotiators are in the final stages of reaching a settlement.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also indicated that a breakthrough was imminent, saying the finalization of the agreement was likely within the next 24 hours.

Under the reported framework, Iran would receive economic relief in exchange for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route through which a significant portion of the world's oil supply passes. Iran has kept the waterway closed since the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iranian targets on February 28.

Despite growing optimism surrounding the talks, military tensions remain high. Fighting continued across the region overnight, with the United States claiming its forces shot down several Iranian drones.
