US Airstrike Reportedly Targets Iranian Army Base in Piranshahr as Iran Claims Drone Strikes on US Bases

An Iranian army headquarters in Piranshahr, located in the Kurdish-majority region of Rojhelat (West Azerbaijan province), was reportedly struck by a US airstrike on Friday morning, according to Iranian state media, in what marks a further escalation of the ongoing military confrontation between the United States and Iran.

Iran's state-run Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted Hamed Saffari, Director General of Crisis Management in Urmia, as saying that the strike occurred at approximately 9:00 a.m. local time, targeting an Iranian army headquarters in Piranshahr County, south of Urmia.

Saffari said several powerful explosions were heard in the area and confirmed that the attack damaged multiple vehicles near the military site. He added that authorities had not yet released information regarding possible casualties.

Video footage circulated on social media and shared with Kurdish media outlet Rudaw appeared to show thick smoke rising from two separate locations inside the military compound. The footage has not been independently verified.

The reported strike came shortly after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that American forces had completed a thirteenth consecutive night of military operations against targets in Iran. According to CENTCOM, the latest strikes focused on military command centers, drone storage facilities, communication infrastructure, coastal surveillance installations, and maritime capabilities.

The reported attack in Piranshahr coincided with Iranian claims that its armed forces launched a new wave of drone strikes against US military installations in the region.

In statements carried by the state-run Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA), the Iranian military said it had targeted Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain using Arash suicide drones, claiming to have struck fuel storage tanks, equipment warehouses, aircraft hangars, and troop accommodation facilities.

Iran also claimed responsibility for drone attacks against Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan's Al-Azraq region, saying aircraft maintenance facilities, hangars, and housing quarters were among the intended targets.

Iranian military officials described the operations as retaliation for continuing US airstrikes inside Iran and warned that any action against what they described as Iran's legitimate national interests would also affect the security and economic interests of other countries in the region.

According to Iranian state media, overnight US strikes also targeted multiple locations across the country, including Andimeshk, Omidiyeh, and Ahvaz in Khuzestan province, Bandar Abbas and Qeshm Island in Hormozgan province, and the Firuzabad region in Fars province.
