The Erbil Governorate announced on Sunday the successful implementation of its comprehensive security, service, and traffic management plan during the Eid al-Adha holiday, reporting stable conditions across the capital of the Kurdistan Region and no major security breaches or disruptions.

According to an official statement issued by the governorate's media office, government institutions and security agencies coordinated efforts throughout the holiday period to ensure public safety and uninterrupted services for residents and visitors.

The Erbil Police Directorate deployed 113 officers and 1,532 personnel as part of the Eid security operation. During the four-day holiday, police recorded three homicide cases, several public disturbances and fights, four theft incidents, and a number of other minor violations, all of which were addressed through legal procedures.

Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Tourism reported strong visitor numbers during the holiday. Special committees were stationed at checkpoints and entry points to facilitate the arrival of tourists and provide support services. Erbil received 112,657 tourists over the Eid break, highlighting the city's continued appeal as a major tourism destination in the Kurdistan Region.

The Erbil Traffic Directorate said its traffic management plan was implemented successfully, helping regulate vehicle movement at intersections and tourist destinations. Authorities recorded four traffic accidents caused primarily by speeding and failure to comply with traffic regulations, resulting in one injury.

Civil Defense teams remained on full alert throughout the holiday and responded to a total of 61 fire incidents. These included five residential fires, two vehicle fires, three fires in commercial establishments and restaurants, and 51 grass and brush fires. Officials confirmed that all incidents resulted only in material damage, with no fatalities reported.

The Erbil Asayish Directorate also reported the successful execution of its security plan, stating that all security forces remained on high readiness to address emergencies and maintain public order.

In the healthcare sector, hospitals and medical personnel operated under emergency-duty schedules throughout the holiday. Between May 26 and May 30, emergency departments at the Western Emergency Hospital and Rizgari Hospital treated 3,004 patients.

Health authorities reported 216 accident-related cases, including road traffic and motorcycle accidents, falls, and dog-bite incidents. Hospitals also treated 70 cases of gastrointestinal illness, 17 cases involving snake and scorpion bites, and 35 cases of food poisoning.

The Central Blood Bank supplied 584 units of blood to hospitals, while medical teams carried out 195 surgeries, including 19 major and 176 minor operations. Additionally, 601 patients received treatment at dialysis centers in Erbil Teaching Hospital, and hospitals recorded 227 births, including 97 natural deliveries and 132 cesarean sections.

The governorate concluded its statement by expressing appreciation to security personnel, healthcare workers, tourism and municipal staff, civil defense teams, and sanitation workers who continued to serve the public throughout the holiday period.
