President of the Kurdistan Region Commemorates 52nd Anniversary of Qaladiza and University of Sulaimani Bombardment
On the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the bombardment of Qaladiza and the University of Sulaimani, the President of the Kurdistan Region issued a statement honoring the victims of the tragic events that took place on April 24, 1974.
The statement recalled how the former Iraqi regime launched an attack targeting both Qaladiza and the university, resulting in the death and injury of numerous students, teachers, and civilians. Describing the incident as a grave tragedy, the President emphasized that the attack on an institution of learning and a symbol of Kurdish resilience failed to weaken the determination of the people of Kurdistan.
According to the statement, the sacrifices made by those who lost their lives have instead reinforced the resolve of the Kurdistan liberation movement and strengthened its pursuit of freedom.
Marking the solemn anniversary, the President paid tribute to the martyrs and extended condolences to their families, recognizing their enduring sacrifice. The statement also highlighted the historical role of Qaladiza and the Pishder region as centers of resistance and patriotism, stressing that these areas deserve continued attention and support in all respects.
The President concluded by honoring the memory of all martyrs of Qaladiza and the fallen heroes of Kurdistan.
