U.S. Sends Vice President JD Vance to Pakistan for Urgent Talks with Iran as Israel–Hezbollah Clashes Threaten Ceasefire

Tensions in the Middle East remain high as the United States attempts to preserve a fragile ceasefire amid continued violence between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

According to diplomatic sources, Donald Trump has tasked U.S. Vice President JD Vance with leading urgent negotiations with Iran in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan. The mission aims to reinforce a recently agreed ceasefire that now appears increasingly fragile.

Iran has warned that it could abandon the truce following Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, arguing that the ceasefire must include the Lebanese front. However, both Israel and the United States have rejected this demand, insisting that the agreement does not extend to the ongoing clashes between Israel and Hezbollah.

Despite the diplomatic efforts, exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters have continued along the Lebanese border, raising fears that the conflict could widen further.

Meanwhile, Kuwait has accused Iran of launching drones targeting its territory. Iranian officials have denied the allegations, describing them as unfounded.

In a related development, Washington, D.C. is expected to host talks next week between Israeli and Lebanese representatives in an attempt to reduce tensions and prevent the situation from escalating into a broader regional conflict.

Diplomats say the coming days will be critical in determining whether the ceasefire can hold or whether the region will slide back into open confrontation
