On the anniversary of the historic March 11 Agreement of 1970, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Masrour Barzani, reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to protecting the rights and constitutional status of the Kurdish people.

In a message published on the social media platform X (Twitter), Barzani described the agreement as a historic achievement of the Kurdish national struggle and a direct result of the Great September Revolution, which was led by the late Kurdish leader Mustafa Barzani.

“The March 11 Agreement of 1970 was the historic outcome of the Great September Revolution, led by our national leader Mustafa Barzani,” the prime minister stated.

Barzani emphasized that the Kurdistan Regional Government remains committed to defending the rights of the people of Kurdistan and safeguarding the constitutional status of the Kurdistan Region.

The March 11 Agreement, signed between the Iraqi government and the Kurdish leadership in 1970, recognized Kurdish autonomy and cultural rights for the first time in Iraq’s modern history, marking a pivotal milestone in the Kurdish struggle for political recognition and self-governance.
