PM Masrour Barzani Seeks Kurdistan Region’s Associate Membership in UNESCO
Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday in Dubai met with Khaled El-Enany, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
The Prime Minister congratulated him on assuming his duties and wished him success in his new role.
The UNESCO DG outlined the organization’s projects in protecting and rehabilitating historical sites, and referred to the renovation project of the Erbil Citadel as a World Heritage Site.
The Prime Minister requested that the Kurdistan Region be admitted as an associate member of UNESCO. The Director-General expressed readiness to provide support and coordination in this regard.
