Erbil, Kurdistan Region – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has fully digitized its compulsory basic education curriculum with the operational launch of the third and final phase of its "My School" (Qutabixanekem) digital learning platform, officials announced Tuesday.

Minister of Education Alan Hama Saeed, speaking at a press conference in Erbil, declared the platform now fully serves students in grades seven, eight, and nine. This move completes the digital integration for all nine grades of the region's basic education system, which is compulsory for all children.

"This foundation has undertaken the duty of supporting and financially sponsoring the project for the third cycle of study," Minister Hama Saeed said, referring to the partnership with the local non-profit Kurdistan Foundation. "With this, we are taking a major step toward the complete digitization of basic education."

The "My School" platform acts as a centralized digital repository, providing students with video lessons, educational content, and supplementary resources accessible via modern technology. The initiative is a cornerstone of the KRG's broader "E-Parwarda" (E-Education) strategy under the Ninth Cabinet's digital transformation agenda.

The completion of the platform for grades 1-9 is seen as a pivotal tool for standardizing education quality and ensuring equitable access across the region, including remote areas. A student in a rural village now has the same digital access to core curriculum materials as a student in a major city.

The latest phase highlights a strategic shift toward sustainable, locally-led development. While earlier phases benefited from international cooperation with organizations like UNICEF, the third phase was financially sponsored and driven by the Kurdistan Foundation, which focuses on youth empowerment and education.

Minister Hama Saeed framed the launch as the fulfillment of a government promise. "Last year, we promised to make the entire basic education stage available on this platform. Fortunately, the lessons for the fourth and fifth grades... are now complete, and with this launch, we have achieved that goal for basic education," he stated.

With the basic education cycle now digitized, Ministry officials indicate that attention will likely turn to the "Preparatory" stage—grades 10, 11, and 12—where digital support is highly demanded by students preparing for university admissions.

The "My School" platform is accessible immediately to students, with login credentials managed through their schools. The Ministry is encouraging parents and guardians to promote the platform's use for study and revision as the academic year continues.
