Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Egypt’s Consul General in Erbil, Mahmoud Farouk Youssef, on Monday to discuss building on the momentum of Barzani’s recent visit to Cairo.

According to a KRG statement, the meeting centered on Barzani’s talks with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, with both sides exploring ways to advance bilateral relations across multiple fields.

Consul General Youssef emphasized the significance of the Prime Minister’s visit to Cairo, describing it as a key step in advancing ties. He reiterated Egypt’s interest in further deepening cooperation with the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Prime Minister Barzani expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s regional role and for President Sisi’s support for the Kurdish cause. He also thanked Cairo for its efforts to promote peace and stability in the broader region.
