President Masoud Barzani met on Tuesday with Mr. Mohammed Al-Hassan, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), as part of a farewell visit marking the end of Al-Hassan’s mandate in the country.

During the meeting, Mr. Al-Hassan expressed his sincere appreciation for President Barzani’s continued support throughout his tenure, noting that this support played an important role in facilitating and advancing the UN mission’s work in Iraq.

President Barzani, in turn, praised the efforts of the UN Special Representative in addressing Iraq’s challenges and in supporting the political process. He also highlighted Al-Hassan’s role in promoting coordination and cooperation among Iraq’s political forces and social components to help strengthen security, stability, and prosperity across the country.

The meeting concluded with President Barzani wishing Mr. Al-Hassan success in his future responsibilities, while reaffirming the importance of continued cooperation between Iraq and the United Nations.
