ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – In a significant meeting at his Pirmam office on Saturday, President Masoud Barzani welcomed a group of young Kurds who were reportedly assaulted by Iraqi security forces for carrying the Kurdistan flag on Election Day.
The youths were targeted on November 11, 2025, for publicly displaying the Kurdish flag, an incident that has sparked widespread condemnation.

He took the opportunity to underscore the profound significance of the Kurdistan flag, stating that "a great deal of blood and sacrifice has been made for the Kurdistan flag."
"The Kurdistan flag is the flag of every single Kurd," President Barzani emphasized. "Every Kurd has the constitutional and legal right to take pride in the flag and the sanctities of their people."
He issued a firm warning, asserting that no individual or party has the right to disrespect the Kurdistan flag under any circumstances or prevent its display.
