Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Inaugurates Second Phase of Emergency Water Supply Project for Erbil
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Masrour Barzani, today inaugurated the second and final phase of the Emergency Water Supply Project for Erbil city, marking a significant milestone in strengthening the region’s vital infrastructure.
During the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Barzani toured various sections of the project and expressed his appreciation to the executing company, Heman Group, and its owner Khalid Khoshnaw, for their professionalism and efficiency.
“This project provides a great service to Erbil and the Kurdistan Region,” the Prime Minister stated. “The work has been carried out very successfully and completed within a benchmark time. Many believed it would take three years to finish, but it was completed in a much shorter period.”
He further emphasized that the project’s implementation by local expertise and capacities is a point of pride, noting that advanced technology was employed to ensure the highest standards of water quality.
The $480 million project aims to secure and stabilize Erbil’s water supply, providing a sustainable solution to the city’s growing demand. The first phase, inaugurated in July 2025, delivers 480,000 cubic meters of water per day to the capital. With the completion of the second phase, the project is now fully operational, greatly enhancing the region’s capacity to meet the needs of its residents.
Prime Minister Barzani commended all teams involved for their dedication and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting essential infrastructure projects that improve public services and promote economic growth across the Kurdistan Region.
