Prime Minister Barzani Inspects Progress on Erbil–Koya Dual Carriageway Project

As part of his ongoing field visits to oversee the implementation of major service and infrastructure projects, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Thursday inspected the progress of work on the Erbil–Koya (Koisnjaq) dual carriageway project, a key strategic initiative whose foundation stone was laid one year ago.

During the inspection tour, Prime Minister Barzani reviewed the latest stages of construction and the achieved completion rates. He praised the efforts of engineers, supervisors, and technical teams involved in the project, urging them to maintain the pace of work and ensure that the project is completed according to the highest international engineering standards and within the scheduled timeframe.

The Erbil–Koya dual carriageway is regarded as one of the region’s strategic infrastructure projects, located within the administrative boundaries of Erbil Governorate. The project extends for 37 kilometers and is being implemented by Ozan Company at a total cost of 560 billion and 443 million Iraqi dinars.

According to the project design, the road will feature three lanes in each direction, each 12 meters wide. The construction also includes six overpasses, five underpasses (tunnels), a main bridge spanning 250 meters, and 160 concrete culverts to ensure proper water drainage.

Prime Minister Barzani reaffirmed the KRG’s commitment to advancing infrastructure and service projects across the Kurdistan Region, stressing that such initiatives play a vital role in boosting economic development and improving transportation networks.
