President Masoud Barzani hosted Khamees Al-Khanjar, leader of Iraq’s Sovereignty Alliance, on Tuesday at the Salahaddin Resort for high-level talks on the country’s escalating political challenges.

The meeting focused on Iraq’s deepening political crisis, with both leaders exchanging views on the current deadlock, regional tensions, and possible pathways toward stability. Discussions emphasized the urgent need for greater coordination among Iraqi political factions to overcome divisions and restore effective governance.

"The political process in Iraq faces serious threats, and all parties must work together to find solutions," President Barzani stated after the meeting. Al-Khanjar echoed the sentiment, stressing that "dialogue and cooperation are the only ways to prevent further instability."

The talks come amid heightened tensions in Baghdad, where disagreements among key blocs have stalled government formation and worsened economic and security conditions. Observers suggest that Barzani’s mediation could play a crucial role in bridging divides, given the Kurdistan Region’s history of facilitating negotiations.
