President Masoud Barzani Extends Warm Wishes to Yazidi Community on Çilê Havînê Festival
Erbil, Kurdistan Region – In a heartfelt message, President Masoud Barzani congratulated the Yazidi community in Kurdistan and around the world on the occasion of Çilê Havînê, the sacred Yazidi summer festival.
In his statement, President Barzani expressed his warmest wishes to the Yazidi people, saying:
"In the name of Almighty God and the martyrs, I extend my sincere congratulations on the occasion of Çilê Havînê to our beloved Yazidi brothers and sisters. I hope that all Yazidis celebrate this religious festival in peace and tranquility. May this blessed occasion bring prosperity and happiness to the community."
Çilê Havînê, meaning "Forty Days of Summer," is one of the most important religious observances for the Yazidi faith, marked by prayers, gatherings, and spiritual reflection. The festival holds deep cultural and historical significance for Yazidis, who have preserved their ancient traditions despite past hardships.
President Barzani’s message emphasized solidarity with the Yazidi community, reaffirming support for their religious and cultural rights. The Yazidi people, an integral part of Kurdistan’s diverse society, have faced severe challenges in recent years, including persecution by extremist groups.
As celebrations begin across Yazidi-majority regions, including Sinjar, local authorities have ensured security measures to allow peaceful festivities. Many Yazidi families, including those displaced by past conflicts, are participating in ceremonies and communal prayers.
The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has repeatedly pledged to protect the rights of all religious and ethnic groups, including Yazidis, Christians, and other minorities. President Barzani’s message reinforces this commitment, calling for unity and coexistence.
