Kurdistan Regional Government Prioritizes Salary Disbursement and Oil Export Resumption in High-Level Meeting
Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani chaired a critical meeting today to address ongoing negotiations with the federal government in Baghdad regarding delayed salary payments for the region’s public sector employees and the resumption of oil exports.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, focused on recent developments in talks with Iraqi federal authorities to secure the financial rights of KRG employees and expedite the restart of oil shipments through the Iraq-Turkey pipeline.
Officials stressed the need for enhanced cooperation with Baghdad to resolve the crisis, underscoring that the timely payment of salaries is a constitutional and legal obligation. The KRG reaffirmed its commitment to finding a sustainable solution, acknowledging the severe economic strain the delays have placed on citizens and public sector workers.
"The disbursement of salaries and financial entitlements remains a top priority for our government," a statement from the meeting read. "We are working tirelessly to end this crisis, which has negatively impacted the livelihoods of our people."
The KRG also emphasized the importance of resuming oil exports, a key revenue source for the region, urging constructive dialogue with federal authorities to reach a mutually beneficial agreement.
