Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has welcomed the initial step of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) laying down arms, expressing hope for a lasting peace process in the region.

In a tweet on Friday, Barzani stated, "I welcome the peace process and the first step of the PKK laying down arms. I hope that all parties will commit to achieving genuine peace and a new era of coexistence and stability."

The statement comes amid ongoing efforts to resolve long-standing tensions between the Turkish state and the PKK, which has been engaged in a decades-long conflict. Barzani’s remarks highlight the KRG’s support for dialogue and a peaceful resolution to the Kurdish question.
