Erbil, Kurdistan Region – Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), met on Sunday with the newly elected Secretary and members of the Secretariat Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Students and Youth Union (KDSUY) in Pirmam.

In a statement from his headquarters, Barzani congratulated the delegation on the successful conclusion of their unity congress, praising its professional organization and smooth proceedings.

“This congress was very different; from the beginning, it was conducted very well,” Barzani said. “I commend the supervisors of the congress.”

Barzani reaffirmed his full support for the KDSUY, emphasizing the crucial role of youth in shaping Kurdistan’s future. He urged the new leadership to uphold national and patriotic values, remain committed to the Kurdish cause, and promote gender equality by encouraging women’s participation in the organization.

He also stressed the importance of focusing on students and young people, calling them the “cornerstone of Kurdistan’s progress.” Barzani highlighted the historic sacrifices of Kurdish youth during the Aylul and Gulan revolutions, noting that their legacy continues to inspire today’s generation.

The KDSUY, a key KDP-affiliated organization, works to engage Kurdish youth in political, cultural, and social initiatives, fostering leadership and national unity.
