Erbil, Kurdistan Region - President Masoud Barzani received Mr. Maher Al-Karky, the newly appointed Consul General of Palestine in Erbil, during an official meeting held on Tuesday.

In the meeting, Consul General Al-Karky conveyed the greetings of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, along with the regards of the Palestinian leadership and people, to President Barzani. He highlighted the historical and enduring ties between the people of Kurdistan and Palestine and emphasized the importance of strengthening the friendship and cooperation between both sides.

President Barzani, in turn, reflected on the deep-rooted relations between the two peoples, particularly throughout the various stages of the Palestinian struggle — from the era of the late President Yasser Arafat to the current leadership of President Mahmoud Abbas. He reiterated that although national causes may face setbacks or delays, they do not come to an end.

The Kurdish leader also expressed his hope for an end to the suffering and injustices endured by the Palestinian people and called for a just and lasting solution to their cause through peace and mutual understanding.

The meeting reaffirmed the shared values and solidarity between the Kurdish and Palestinian peoples and underscored a mutual commitment to continued cooperation and friendship.
