Kurdistan Health Minister Inaugurates Two Advanced Medical Devices in Halabja
In a significant move to strengthen healthcare accessibility, Dr. Saman Barzinji, the Health Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, unveiled two state-of-the-art medical devices in Halabja Governorate on Sunday.
During a press conference, Dr. Barzinji highlighted the government’s commitment to reducing administrative delays and ensuring equitable healthcare distribution. He noted that Halabja has seen remarkable progress in medical services under the ninth cabinet’s policies.
“Every six months, we introduce a new health service or project in Halabja,” said Barzinji. “Today, we are launching two advanced medical devices for the first time in the governorate, allowing dozens of patients to receive critical treatment locally instead of traveling to Sulaymaniyah.”
One of the newly installed devices is designed for the early detection of breast and chest cancer in women—a crucial step in combating one of the most prevalent cancers among women in the region. The minister stressed that early diagnosis significantly improves treatment success rates.
“In line with health protocols, women will be given scheduled appointments for screenings using these devices,” Barzinji explained. “This initiative will greatly improve early detection and recovery prospects.”
The minister also acknowledged the Cancer Patient Assistance Fund for its continuous support in advancing healthcare services for cancer patients in the region.
This development marks another milestone in the KRG’s efforts to modernize healthcare infrastructure and bring specialized medical care closer to citizens in underserved areas.
