Erbil, Kurdistan Region – On the occasion of the 127th anniversary of the first Kurdish newspaper’s publication, which also marks Kurdish Journalism Day and the founding of the Kurdistan Journalists’ Syndicate, President Masoud Barzani issued a special message honoring the contributions of journalists and media professionals across Kurdistan.

In his statement, President Barzani emphasized the critical role of journalism and media in promoting national awareness, preserving the Kurdish language, and advocating for the rights of the Kurdish people globally. He described Kurdish journalism as "a powerful tool for introducing the just cause of our people to the world" and praised its role in fostering coexistence, peace, and tolerance in Kurdistan.

The President called on journalists and media workers to maintain professionalism, uphold ethical standards, and prioritize the interests of the Kurdish people in their reporting. He also expressed his hopes for their continued success in serving the nation.

Kurdish Journalism Day commemorates the launch of "Kurdistan" newspaper in 1898, a milestone in Kurdish media history. Today, the day is celebrated with events recognizing the vital role of journalists in shaping Kurdistan’s political, cultural, and social landscape.
