Kurdistan Regional Government Inaugurates First Hospital in Bardarash
Erbil, Kurdistan Region - In a significant step to improve healthcare services, Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), officially opened the newly constructed Bardarash Hospital earlier this month. This marks the first medical facility of its kind in the city, aiming to provide essential healthcare to local residents and surrounding areas.
A Modern Healthcare Facility
The newly established hospital features 25 beds and is fully equipped with advanced medical devices and supplies. Key departments include:
Emergency unit for urgent medical care
Surgical operating room for critical procedures
Radiology and laboratory for diagnostics
Pharmacy for medication distribution
Reception and patient intake for streamlined services
Relieving Burden on Nearby Cities
Dr. Khidr Saleh, Director of the Bardarash District Health Center, highlighted the hospital’s importance in reducing the hardships faced by residents. Previously, patients had to travel long distances to seek treatment in Akre or Duhok.
"This hospital has significantly eased the burden on our citizens, who no longer need to undertake difficult journeys for basic medical care," Dr. Saleh stated.
24/7 Healthcare Access
The facility, also referred to as Hawrehaten Hospital, operates around the clock, serving not only Bardarash but also three neighboring sub-districts. Officials emphasized that the new hospital will enhance healthcare accessibility and reduce pressure on other regional medical centers.
A Step Toward Stronger Infrastructure
The opening of Bardarash Hospital reflects the KRG’s ongoing efforts to strengthen public health infrastructure in underserved areas. Prime Minister Barzani reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding quality healthcare services across the Kurdistan Region.
This development is expected to improve medical outcomes for thousands of residents, ensuring faster and more efficient treatment close to home.
