Shifa Barzani, the Director-General of the Kurdistan Center, conducted an official visit to Georgia on Monday, where he was warmly received at Sokhumi University and participated in vibrant Nowruz celebrations organized by the Kurdish community in the capital, Tbilisi.

Upon his arrival, Mr. Barzani was honored with a formal reception at Sokhumi University, where the event commenced with the playing of the national anthems of both Kurdistan and Georgia—a gesture underscoring the strong bilateral relations between the two nations. The university president and faculty members welcomed him, highlighting the importance of academic and cultural exchanges.

Nowruz Festivities in Tbilisi

The highlight of the visit was Mr. Barzani’s participation in the Nowruz (Kurdish New Year) celebrations, co-organized by the Kurdistan Center and the Ronahi Foundation. The event, held in Tbilisi, brought together Kurdish expatriates, Georgian officials, and representatives of local institutions.
