Kurdistan Oil Production at 286,000 Barrels per Day, Exports Remain Suspended

The Kurdistan Region is currently producing 286,000 barrels of crude oil per day, according to Iraqi Oil Minister Hayan Abdel-Ghani, who cited secondary sources from OPEC+ for the figures.

The use of secondary sources by OPEC+ to monitor production levels was adopted to resolve past disputes within the organization over output data. However, despite ongoing discussions, no agreement has been reached between oil companies in Kurdistan and Iraq’s federal government to resume crude exports to Turkey.

The suspension, now in its second consecutive year, has halted oil flows from the Kurdistan Region to Turkey’s Ceyhan port, cutting off a vital revenue source for the semi-autonomous region.

Minister Abdel-Ghani did not provide a timeline for when exports might resume but confirmed that negotiations with Kurdish authorities are still underway.

The prolonged deadlock has raised concerns over economic stability in the Kurdistan Region, which heavily relies on oil revenues. Meanwhile, Iraq continues to push for a unified oil export policy under federal oversight.
