Kurdistan Region Security Council Welcomes Trump’s Recognition
The Kurdistan Region Security Council welcomed President Trump’s acknowledgment of its role in the operation. In a statement, the Council expressed appreciation for the U.S. President’s praise, noting that it reflects the strong partnership between the Kurdistan Region and the United States. “We are grateful for President Trump’s recognition of our efforts in this critical mission. The Kurdistan Region remains committed to combating terrorism and working closely with our allies to ensure regional stability,” the Council said.
However, the Council also raised concerns over the lack of acknowledgment from the Iraqi federal government. “While we appreciate the U.S. President’s recognition, it is disappointing that the federal government’s statement did not highlight the Kurdistan Region’s contributions. Such oversight could hinder future cooperation,” the statement added.
Iraqi Forces Praised for Key Role
President Trump also praised the Iraqi security forces for their pivotal role in the operation. “The Iraqi forces demonstrated exceptional professionalism and courage in this mission. Their dedication to defeating ISIS is a cornerstone of our shared success,” he said. The operation highlights the growing capabilities of Iraqi forces in counter-terrorism efforts, bolstered by years of U.S. training and support.
General Kurilla Reaffirms Commitment to Counter-Terrorism
General Michael Kurilla, Commander of U.S. Central Command, emphasized the strategic importance of the operation and the continued commitment to targeting ISIS leadership. “Abu Khadijah was one of the most influential ISIS leaders globally. This operation demonstrates our resolve to dismantle terrorist organizations that threaten the U.S., our allies, and our partners,” he stated.
A Model for Future Cooperation
The successful operation serves as a model for future collaboration between the U.S., Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region. President Trump’s public recognition of the KRG and Iraq’s contributions underscores the importance of unity in the fight against terrorism. As the U.S. and its allies continue to target ISIS leadership, the focus remains on strengthening partnerships and ensuring long-term security and stability in the region.
