UNESCO: Efforts to connect all Iraqi schools to Internet

On Wednesday, UNESCO in Iraq revealed an initiative to provide 3,000 schools with Internet service, stressing that the next stage is to expand Internet connectivity to all schools in Iraq.

UNESCO representative in Iraq Paolo Fontani told the Iraqi News Agency (INA) "there is an initiative to provide the Internet to 3000 schools, which will be used to feed data information related to education, which will enable us to make the right decisions, and guide the educational process correctly."

He added that "the next stage is to expand the Internet connection to all schools in Iraq, and this would reflect positively on the educational performance of the schools."

He pointed out that "there is a database and use of technology in the education sector, through the Newton platform and others, but after 2020 we seek an educational information management system."
