ERBIL - Iranian authorities have detained a 15-year-old Kurdish boy allegedly for supporting one of the opposition groups, a monitor reported on Thursday.

Security forces in Mahabad raided a civilian house in the Kurdish city on Wednesday and took Peshwa Rahmanifar to an unknown location without showing an official arrest warrant for him, Hengaw Organization for Human Rights said.

The human rights group cited a source familiar with the situation as confirming that the 15-year-old was detained "on charges of supporting a Kurdish opposition party."

The fate of the Kurdish teenager has so far remained unknown to his family, Hengaw agency added.
