Iraq Says Committed to Early Election as Scheduled
ERBIL - The Iraqi government is committed to holding the early elections in June, next year, a country's minister said on Tuesday.

Iraqi Minister of Culture Hassan Nazim said in a statement to the reporters that "the caretaker government of Iraq is committed to holding the elections as scheduled for next June."

He further noted that the process of biometric voter registration is ongoing and around 28 million voters have so far been registered so far.

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi earlier this year announced that the country will hold early elections on June 6, 2021, a move which was welcomed by the international community as well, as it was to address part of the demands of the anti-government protests who took to the streets for about one year.
