ERBIL - The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has reiterated its support to bolster the private sector and business innovation, a statement confirmed on Monday.

Kurdistan Region Deputy PM Qubad Talabani chaired a meeting on Monday for talks on the ways to "modernise and facilitate the registration process for businesses operating in the Kurdistan Region as part of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s ongoing efforts to bolster the private sector," reads a KRG statement said.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Trade and Industry and the Head of the Information Technology Department, during which the government's commitment to the implementation of its reform agenda was reaffirmed, which aims "to reduce bureaucratic hurdles for businesses and develop the private sector to create more job opportunities."

"Deputy Prime Minister Talabani also studied the issue of trademarks and foreign registrations, emphasizing that the Kurdistan Regional Government will continue to serve the best interests of its citizens while filling the gaps in the Kurdistan economy with the support of the private sector."
