Kurdistan Presidency Condemns PKK's Attack on Peshmerga, Calls It "Dangerous Precedent"
The Presidency said in a statement that it "strongly" condemns the PKK attack on Peshmerga forces which left one Peshmerga fighter killed and several others injured in Chamanke subdistrict of Amedi, Duhok province.
Such violations, which pose a threat to the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region, cannot be justified, the statement added.
The Kurdistan Region already struggles with several other issues, thus the PKK should not attempt to deteriorate the situation in the region, the statement said.
"As always, we assert that the PKK must respect the constitutional rights of Kurdistan Region and its legitimate institutions and take all conflicts away from the Kurdistan Region."
The Kurdistan Region's Council of Ministers, earlier the day, also denounced the PKK attack.
"The Kurdistan Region is against brother-killing war [between Kurds]; therefore, such an attack is crossing the red line," a statement said, adding that the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) will not allow any sides or groups to harm the security, as well as stability, of the region.
