Erdogan Invites Iraqi PM to Visit Turkey
ERBIL - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has invited Iraqi PM Mustafa al-Kadhimi to visit Turkey, a statement said on Wednesday.

Kadhimi's office explained in a statement that the Iraqi premier received the Turkish Ambassador Fatih Yildiz in Baghdad on Wednesday, who conveyed a written letter from Erdogan to Kadhimi.

"PM Mustafa al-Kadhimi received a written letter from the Turkish president, including an official invitation to visit Turkey," reads the statement.

This comes about two months after relations between Baghdad and Ankara began to deteriorate due to the killing of two Iraqi border guards in a Turkish airstrike.

Iraq, at the time, even cancelled a visit by the Turkish defense minister to Baghdad in response to the airstrike.

According to the statement, Kadhimi and the Turkish envoy exchanged views on the ties between Iraq and Turkey.
