Turkey imposes higher taxes on over 400 more imports
Turkey will charge higher import taxes on over 400 more goods to shield local producers from competition during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a decree published in the Official Gazette on Sunday, T24 said.

Turkey will raise import taxes on various white goods, luxury ornaments, construction equipment, agricultural machinery as well as iron and steel products. Additional custom duties had already been added to some 1,000 industrial products from electronics to textile goods on extra taxes two earlier decrees, T24 said.

Turkey will impose import duties of up to 20 percent on the goods until the end of September.

Turkey generally charges a customs tax of 18 percent for items arriving from European Union countries and 20 percent for items arriving from non-EU countries.
