The health ministry explained in a statement that all of the cases were recorded in the neighborhood of Karezan where 14 other people had previously tested positive for COVID-19.

A recent funeral was said to be the main cause of infections in the neighborhood, according to the ministry.

Among the new victims were eight men, six women, and four children, taking the total number of cases to 232, the ministry added.

Earlier on Saturday, the third death case from the coronavirus in Kurdistan Region was confirmed in Sulaimaniya province.
