Kurdistan Parliament Condemns Attack on Journalist Adnan Rashidi, Calls for Justice
Speaking to CPJ, Adnan Rashidi, who is a freelance journalist and editor of the Kurdistan Human Rights Association, revealed that between three and five armed men wearing masks raided his house earlier on 11 March and forced him to hand them over documents related to activists in Iran.
According to the journalist, the assailants had claimed to be working for the Kurdish Asayish security forces who managed to obtain the documents after holding Rashid's wife and daughter hostage, forcing his wife to strip while filming her naked.
Apart from denouncing the attack, the parliamentary Committee for Social Affairs has also urged the security forces and other relevant authorities to find the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
