Turkey Imprisons Kurdish Journalist for Criticizing Erdogan on Twitter
ERBIL — A Turkish court has sentenced a Kurdish journalist to two years imprisonment for criticizing Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkish media reports said Eziz Oruc was found guilty by a court in Diyarbakir for 12 tweets in 2016, which are taken by the court as “propaganda” for the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

Oruc was taken under custody in December last year in Agri.

He said during the trial that he only criticized the ruling party and the president of Turkey “as a journalist”, and that the government could not accuse him of having any links with the PKK.
