US Troops Withdraw from Two Bases in Northeast of Syria
ERBIL - The US forces withdrew from a couple of its bases in northeast of Syria on Wednesday, only hours after an Iran missile attack on US troops in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, state media said.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said in a report that the US forces were leaving a base in the Kharab al-Jir area in the northeastern countryside of Hasakah province, six months after the creation of the unit.

The US troops also withdrew from another base in Shaddadi city, heading towards the al-Hol area in the northeastern countryside of Hasakah as a prelude to moving into Iraq, SANA added.

The military movement came after Iran launched a missile attack on two US bases in Kurdistan Region's Erbil and Iraq's Anbar province in the early hours on Wednesday.

Iran said that the attack was in retaliation to the killing of a country's top military commander, Qassem Soleimani, by the US.
