ERBIL — Kurdistan Region Prime Minsiter Masrour Barzani received a phone call form US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo early morning on Wednesday following the Iranian missile strikes on US bases in Erbil and Anbar.

“In my telephone call this morning with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, we discussed the current developments in Iraq. I also suggested ways to de-escalate and contain the situation,” Barzani wrote on Twitter.

State Department also said in a press release that Pompeo updated Barzani “on the Iranian missile attacks on Iraqi Air Bases, including in Erbil”.

“The Secretary and Prime Minister Barzani agreed to stay in close touch as the situation develops,” the release added.
