Kurdistan Election: Parties Not Allowed to Use Religious Sites for Campaign
ERBIL - The Kurdistan Region’s Independent High Electoral and Referendum Commission (IHERC) has vowed to punish any political parties if they use religious sites for their electoral campaigns, said an official on Tuesday.

Nabaz Ismail, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs at the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), called on all political entities to avoid using mosques and other religious places for the electoral promotions, as cited by Kurdistan 24.

"The ministry will report and issue formal complaints with the elections commission against any party or candidate that violates the rule," Ismail noted, as quoted by the news agency.

The regional parliamentary election has been set for September 30.
