Drone Strike Destroys Humanitarian Aid Warehouse in Iran’s Bushehr Province

A warehouse belonging to the Iranian Red Crescent Society in southern Iran’s Bushehr province was reportedly destroyed in a drone attack early Friday morning, according to local officials.

The strike occurred around 5:30 a.m. in the city of Choghadak, where the facility was used to store emergency relief supplies and vehicles intended for humanitarian operations.

Officials from the Iranian Red Crescent said the warehouse was hit by drones allegedly operated by the United States and Israel, resulting in the destruction of two storage containers and two humanitarian aid vehicles. Authorities reported no casualties.

Ehsan Izadpanah, Director General of the Bushehr branch of the Iranian Red Crescent Society, condemned the attack and said targeting humanitarian infrastructure violates international humanitarian law. He emphasized that such facilities are protected under the Geneva Conventions, which prohibit attacks on civilian and aid-related infrastructure during armed conflicts.

Rising Tensions Near Bushehr Nuclear Facility
The incident comes amid rising tensions in the region following a recent security concern at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. A projectile reportedly landed within the facility on March 24, prompting the evacuation of additional personnel.

According to Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Russia’s state nuclear corporation Rosatom, 163 Russian staff members were evacuated on March 25 toward the Iranian–Armenian border. Approximately 300 personnel remain on-site to oversee operations.

The nuclear plant, partially constructed by Russian engineers, depends heavily on Russian technical expertise. Two additional reactors currently under construction have also been affected by the heightened security situation.

Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization of Iran stated that the projectile caused no structural damage to the facility and accused the United States and Israel of targeting the site.

Meanwhile, the International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, urged “maximum restraint” from all parties, warning that military activity near nuclear installations could pose serious nuclear safety risks.

As of now, officials from the United States and Israel have not issued any response regarding either the drone strike on the humanitarian warehouse or the reported incident near the Bushehr nuclear power plant.
