Early this morning, 24 March 2026, two separate attacks targeted a headquarters of the 7th Infantry Division of Area Command 1 and a unit of the 5th Infantry Division of the Peshmerga Forces in the Soran District. In a hostile act marked by treachery, betrayal, and a blatant disregard for all human and neighbourly norms, six Iranian ballistic missiles struck these positions. As a result, six heroic Peshmerga were martyred and 30 others were wounded.

We strongly condemn this attack, as well as all terrorist acts against the Kurdistan Region. At the same time, we reaffirm our inherent right to respond to any aggression against our people and our land.

We did not expect the Kurdistan Region’s commitment to peace to be met with such cowardice. However, injustice and oppression are short-lived, and the will for peace shall ultimately prevail.

We extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of our martyrs and wish a swift and full recovery to those who were injured.

Once again, we call on all parties to keep war and instability away from the Kurdistan Region. We also urge the Federal Government, the international community, and all our partners not to remain silent in the face of these violations and to take action to stop this reckless aggression.
