Barzani Marks International Mother Language Day with Message on Identity and Unity
President Masoud Barzani issued a message on Saturday to mark International Mother Language Day, emphasizing the importance of preserving the Kurdish language as a pillar of national identity and unity.
In a post shared on the social media platform X, Barzani described the mother language as “the foundation of authenticity, identity, awareness, and national unity,” stressing that protecting it is a national duty.
He concluded his message by extending his congratulations, saying, “Happy International Mother Language Day to all dear Kurds.”
International Mother Language Day is observed annually on February 21 to promote linguistic and cultural diversity worldwide.
